If you are highly overweight tourist, no airline company might ask you to book two ticket, because it is not according to the regulations. But for your own convenience, in some cases it would be required. When you aren't certain if you will fit into a chair, call emergency center and ask them that question. When it is possible that seat will be to narrow, you could book another ticket near to the first one, most of the time the prize will be smaller.
